Edwin G. Cook

U.S. Veteran

Edwin G. Cook, 90, of Hallettsville, passed away June 15, 2012. He was born on Oct. 10, 1921 to Ernest & Lavernia Matthew Cook in Yoakum. He married Irene Kubecka on Feb. 3, 1947 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. He retired from Alcoa after 31 years of service; a member of the American Legion, VFW, and First United Methodist Church of Hallettsville.

Edwin served in the US Army from June 1942 to Nov. 1945. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal for the Central Europe Campaign, the American Theater Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal.

Edwin is survived by: his wife Irene of 65 years; 4 sons, Robert Cook of Kirby, Larry Cook & wife Patricia of Katy, Dennis Cook & wife Annice of Driftwood, and Jerry Cook & wife Jerline of Angleton; sister Maudie Frances Axelson of Livingston; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Edwin was preceded in death by: his parents; 2 brothers, Raymond Cook and Welden Darst; and 2 sisters, Laverna Wofford and Estelle Cook.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Monday, June 18, 2012, at First United Methodist Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Lundy. Pallbearers: Marcus Vaugham, Shawn Zak, Kevin Cook, Robert Cook Jr., Darrel Ingram, and Bo Zak. Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery. Memorials: Donor’s choice.
